Environmentally Friendly Initiatives.
Courtesy Cleaners sets the pace not only in the garment care industry, but in environmental responsibility. To us, "Going Green" is much more than just lip service; we believe in doing our job with the lightest possible environmental impact and footprint. Our green initiatives range from programs that recycle the materials we use every day to reducing fuel costs, from waste recycling to using biodegradable cleaning agents. Here is a current list of our efforts:
- Hanger recycling program
- Customer poly recycling program
- Customer garment bag program
- All vehicles use GPS systems to limit excess mileage
- All vehicles use synthetic motor oil, decreasing oil changes by more than half
- "No idle" policy for all of our trucks
- Energy efficient lighting including automatic shutoffs
- Cooling water recycling program
- Permanent barcodes to save paper
- Use of natural gas for our boilers
- Insulate steam pipe to eliminate heat loss
- Waste recycling program including cardboard, glass, and plastic
- Quarterly steam trap testing to minimize energy usage
- 80% to 90% of all hot water is generated through condensate returns which would otherwise be wasted
- Use of high quality biodegradable cleaning detergents which minimize usage
